Online marketing courses with an education voucher

Learn online marketing and social media with an education voucher: two compact foundation courses, online with tutor support, full-time or part-time.

This area is for beginners, career changers and self-employed people who want to understand digital marketing and apply it themselves. You do not need any marketing background for either course. Good German skills (at least B1), a computer with internet access and basic experience with office software are enough to start.

We currently list two compact foundation courses here. Online marketing basics covers the groundwork: push and pull strategies, the customer journey, digital channels, branding, and brand identity and trust. Social media basics is more practical and is aimed at anyone who wants to get into social media management: platforms and algorithms, target groups, content creation, reels, stories and carousels, and design with Canva. Both are online distance courses with tutor support and take about three weeks full-time, around seven weeks part-time or roughly two months alongside work. Because they are short and complement each other, it can make sense to take both in a row or combine one with a course from media and design. We do not currently have a course dedicated only to online shops.

Both courses can be funded with an education voucher (Bildungsgutschein, § 81 SGB III). The decision lies with your employment agency (since 2025 also if you are supported by a Jobcenter), typically based on whether the training improves your chances of finding a job. Whether a combination of several courses is funded is also decided case by case. Our advice is free: we put together a sensible selection with you and help you explain it to your adviser.

What to look for when choosing a course

  • Choose your starting point: online marketing basics gives the strategic overview, social media basics the practical start with platforms and content.
  • Plan for the short duration: at about three weeks full-time both courses are compact; it is best to agree on a combination with your adviser in advance.
  • Prepare your tools: for social media basics you need a free Canva account and basic skills in word processing and spreadsheets.
  • Organise yourself: both courses are distance courses with tutor support and no fixed class times, so you plan your study time yourself.

Frequently asked questions about this area

Do I need prior knowledge for an online marketing course?

No. Both courses are designed for beginners. You should be at least 18, have good German skills (at least B1) and a computer with internet access. For online marketing basics, experience with office software helps. For social media basics you need basic skills in word processing and spreadsheets and a free Canva account.

Can I combine both marketing courses?

In terms of content, the two courses fit together well: one lays the foundations of strategy, channels and brand, the other shows the practical work on social media platforms. Whether several courses are funded is decided by your employment agency (Agentur für Arbeit). We help you put together a sensible combination, including courses from other areas such as media and design.

Are there courses specifically on e-commerce and online shops?

We do not currently list a course dedicated only to online shops. However, topics from online marketing basics such as the customer journey, digital channels and branding also matter in online retail, as do content and target groups from social media basics. If you have a particular direction in mind, we check in a free consultation which courses fit.
